**Originally Posted Thursday June, 09 June 2016 The Contra Costa County Deputy Sheriff Association would like to honor Deputy Sheriff Carlos Francies for his years of service and heroic act and brave attempt to save the life of a friend, whom appeared to be drowning. We are devastated by this tragic event and our deep sympathies go out those who were closest to him; his family, his friends, his fellow deputies and his community.

**Originally Posted Friday, 10 August 2018 Sadly today we mourn the loss of CHP Officer Kirk Griess (pictured) who was tragically killed in the line of duty this morning in a vehicle collision in Fairfield.Officer Griess was killed while conducting a vehicle stop on I-80. Griess was on the shoulder of westbound lanes of the interstate around 9 a.m. near Manuel Campos Parkway.For an unknown reason, a white Chevy pickup truck veered to the right and hit Officer Griess. Everyone involved in the crash was taken to local hospitals. Griess was later pronounced dead, authorities said.Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer...
